Growing Pains

There is a tension within the Templar guilds that are to be expected for a new organization that is only five months old. We are having growing pains as we bounce between 2 sets of polar opposites: Casual/Raiding, and Benefits/Duties.

A few weeks ago, we had an experience that helped us define ourselves when Ghost Templars was asked to merge with a hardcore raiding guild. Our marshalls agreed that we are and will remain a casual guild as we do not want to place heavy burdens on our members. Hardcore guilds expect their members to daily deposit astral diamonds in the coffer, farm influence, and grind for surplus equipment and other items for stronghold development. Ghost Templars does not require members to do anything except abide by our simple regulations and participate in guild activities. This means our stronghold advancement will take longer, i.e., dragonflight gear and boons will not be quickly available. We have lost highly-geared level 70 members because of this: they want the best boons and gear in the game now, which we cannot provide in a casual guild like ours. We are willing to make this sacrifice to preserve our guild's casual way of being.

There is also the tension between benefits and duties. We cannot expect to have boons, special gear, etc., without concomitant duties; i.e., building up the stronghold to unlock special gear, boons and other benefits. Your Templar duties are expressed in the guidelines we have agreed to follow. In doing so, you gain access to all the benefits of our casual guild.

These tenions keep us on our toes and help us fulfill our mission of enabling our members to progress within the game and enjoy a fun gaming experience on Neverwinter.

All the best,
Xerxes
